Household recyclables

The Village of New Windsor and Rivoli Township contract with Eagle Enterprises of Galva, Illinois to provide 2 bins for convenient dropoff of consumer recyclables. The bins are located at the Village of New Windsor Maintenance Garage located behind the Ballpark on tthe west edge of town.  

Materials accepted: newspapers, corrugated cardboard, magazines, phone books, hardback and paperback books, office paper, junk mail, plastics #1 thru #5 and #7, aluminum cans, aluminum foil, aluminum scrap, steel and tin cans, light steel scrap and glass bottles.  If placing glass in the recycle bin, please package it so that should it break, there will be no dangerous glass shards in the recycle bin. If you have a large amount of recyclables, you may drop those items off at the Eagle Enterprise loation in Galva, IL.  For more information, give them a call at 309-932-2936, emaill them at [email protected] or visit their website -> Eagle Enterprises 

The bins are emptied weekly on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Should the bins be full, please return on another day and please don't leave materials on the ground around the bins. 

Electronics and Paint recycling

The City of Aledo provides a drop-off location for electronics (e-waste) & paint to be recycled, for Mercer County residents, as the State of Illinois has outlawed the disposal of these items in state landfills. 

The drop-off site is located at the City of Aledo Street Department Garage at 309-311 E. Main Street. The hours of operation are every first and third Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon & 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
