Board
As determined by State Statute, the Village of New Windsor Board shall consist of 6 Trustees. Trustees are elected at large, to serve 4 year terms each. The terms of trustees shall be staggered to ensure that the entire governing board is not replaced at once. Should there be any vacancies in the position of Trustee, between elections, the Village President shall have the authority to appoint a resident to complete the term for the vacant poition. The remaining board members shall then vote to approve the President's appointment.
All trustees must reside within the Village of WIndsor borders and must have done so for a period of at least 1 year.
The board acts as the legislative branch of our government, as well as its policy-making body. The board approves all ordinances that go into affect for the Village of New Windsor and are responsible for the annual village budget. Board members are responsible for approving expenditures made by the Village of Windsor and no bill shall be paid until the expenditure has been approved for payment by the board.
The Board looks to our community's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning. The Board's goal is to do the very best to represent their constituents after they've seen to the needs of the community as a whole.
